"Info Flow" not accessible in all classrooms

Since the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, a number of classrooms still do not have access to BNC's televised morning announcements show, "Info Flow."

According to BNC sponsor Shay Taylor, the portables, the P.E. wing and another whole section of classrooms cannot view "Info Flow." The portables are not wired for cable, the physical education classes do not have TVs, and some classrooms do not have adequate signal. "Info Flow" Coordinating Producer Alex McBean also attributes broadcast problems to televisions that either don't work or aren't programmed to receive channel 19, Blair's closed circuit channel.

English teacher Angelina Tubman reports that her room does not have cable.
"I feel like the portables can't be overlooked," Tubman stated. "The students want to see 'Info Flow'.…they want to know what's going on." Fellow teacher Ashton Palmer agrees and states that the "students feel cheated, because other kids get to see it and they don't; they're frustrated."

Taylor also concurs with the other teachers, saying "I think it's important for all classes to have cable period, and it would be equally good to have access to "Info Flow."

Both Taylor and McBean say that there is not much that they can personally do about the issue and reiterate that, in the cases of malfunctioning or the absence of TVs, solving the problem "depends on how much effort teachers put in" to fix it. As for the portables and the PE wing, however, a work order must be put in to expand the network. Also, Taylor points out that they have "compensated for the lack of televised Info Flow access" and also broadcast Info Flow "over the PA system, so [students] are getting most of the information."
