How Maz Olson hosts a space for local musicians

“There’s no greater feeling than the experience of playing songs you love with people you love.”

Sophomore Maz Olson fell in love with music at a young age. “[Music’s] just this really cool thing…because it's not just art, it's art with friends,” he explains.

Olson has met all kinds of talented musicians throughout his lifetime, but he has also found that, unfortunately, there is not a stage for every artist. So, one day, Olson came up with an idea. “I was laying on the ground and I was like ‘you know what’d be cool?…[musical] showcases,’” Olson recalls.

This spontaneous idea blossomed into fruition last August when Olson held his first musical showcase, utilizing the green of his backyard as the grand stage. The showcase lasted for almost two hours and was a total success.

Olson's most recent showcase took place a little over a week ago where bands played a variety of songs ranging from emotional original pieces to the theme song of Phineas and Ferb

Olson's idea has turned into a brilliant reality—his home is now a place where music flows through the halls, a place where music is rightfully shared and loved.
