After placing fifth of 18 Montgomery County teams last year, Blair's gymnastics team is currently looking to their third season with fresh enthusiasm and optimism as numerous newcomers hope to bring a spark to last year's group of veterans.

Coach Paul Belliveau is excited for his athletes, praising their dedication and promise. He is happy to see a lot more freshmen this year than last. "We have a lot of new ninth-graders with a whole lot of talent," he said.

Coupled with the experience of the older gymnasts, Belliveau feels that the new talent has made the team altogether stronger. He is especially reliant on the team's leaders, seniors Amanda Allen and Lizzie Bryant. "Our captains are a vital part of the team. I don't know what I would do without them," he said.

Blair's new talents, most notably freshmen Nicole Poor and Lisa Wong, will be instrumental in the upcoming season.

The first meet will be at home against B-CC on March 26 at 4:00 p.m.
