Girls take fourth despite high score
The gymnastics team lost to Springbrook, Quince Orchard and Walter Johnson high schools in their second meet of the season on March 27. Blair's 144 points, an improvement since the meet two days before on March 25, was not enough to beat Walter Johnson, which claimed 150 points.
Senior co-captain Jessica Stamler placed fifth on bars and beam, and senior co-captaion Ilene Arnsdorf took fifth on vault with a score of 8.4. Senior Nora Toiv also had an impressive 8.2 score for vault.
Each of the overall scores for the first two meets this season have already surpassed last season's record of 120 points. In their first meet the girls claimed 133 points, and in their second they increased the total by ten points.
Arnsdorf is confident in this year's freshman talent, which had a large turnout. Also adding in talent are juniors Latasha Watson and Lizzie Bryant.
The squad looks to be strong this year with experienced seniors like Stamler, Arnsdorf and Toiv leading the team. With the new underclassmen, Blair is able to fill every event and is "looking pretty good," according to Arnsdorf. The Blazers' next meet is on Apr 4 at B-CC High School.
