The Blair gymnastics team had a constructive first season. The team was not even able to fill a full roster in the first competitions but took sixth at counties on May 2 at Sherwood High School with a score of 133.25, beating Sherwood and Walt Whitman high schools.

Blair progressed from scoring a season low of 85 at Gaithersburg High School on Apr 19 to consistently earning 120 or more.

Two of Blair's gymnasts, junior captains Ilene Arnsdorf and Jessica Stamler, qualified for the state competition at Quince Orchard High School on May 7. Arnsdorf's best score was an 8.3 on bars, and Stamler's was an 8.85 on the floor exercise.

Besides Arnsdorf and Stamler, key contributors included senior Maryn Valdez, junior Nora Toiv, and sophomore Lizzie Bryant.
Stamler led the Blazers with an all-around score of 32.6 at Counties, where Valdez competed with a broken foot, greatly contributing to the success of the team. "[Valdez] filled two holes," said Arnsdorf. "If it wasn't for her, there's no way we would've beaten Sherwood."
