Girl's soccer scores their fourth win

Girl's varsity soccer won their fourth shutout in a row, tonight, against Kennedy, 2-0, with goals by senior Sara Achrati and junior Nicole Gray.

Gray had a very successful game, assisting Achrati and scoring her own goal. "We are playing at the playoff level," she said. "Teams like Walter Johnson and Whitman aren't looking that scary anymore."

The girls may have won their last four games but the real challenge still lies ahead and Achrati thinks the team is capable of taking it up a notch. "We were playing okay but I don't understand why were not winning by more," she said.

Senior Beccah Bernard was also playing excellently tonight, in making some important saves and chasing down her opponents on defense. Bernard has been on the team since she was a freshman and has played good in the last three games but looked even better, tonight.

The girl's coach and Blair social studies teacher, Bob Gibb thinks the girls are ready for the likes of Whitman and Walter Johnson. "If we play up to ability, we can play with the A teams," he said. Gibb thinks the season is going great but like the rest of the team, knows that they have not yet played the best. "This is where I expected us to be," said Gibb. "[Kennedy, Wheaton, Paint Branch, and Einstein] are not elite teams." But the girls are on an "upswing" and are "ready to be tested."
