With only three games beneath their belts, the Blazers were not able to play their game. Despite picking up the pace in the second half, Blair came out of the game with their second loss, being defeated by Sherwood, 1 to 4.

The Blazers started off with energy and confidence only to become passive after the first five minutes of play. Seeing an advantage, Sherwood jumped on the opportunity and took control of the game with three consecutive goals all within a matter of six minutes. Junior Elizabeth Inkellis broke the chain, scoring the team's first goal off a deflected shot with fourteen minutes left of play in the first half.

The girls came out of half time ready to play their game. Although Blair seemed to be on offense for most of the half, their shots did not find the goal. "We're playing a better half, we're just not scoring," says Coach Bob Gibb. Blair played aggressively and fiercely, allowing Sherwood to score only once more.

Even though Blair faced a defeat, Gibb believes that there were still strong aspects of the team's game. Junior Beccah Bernard, who after being injured is now back to her full stamina, contributed crucial blocks and steals throughout the game. "She's a rock," says Gibb, who's happy to be able to play her the whole game now.

Gibb also pointed out junior Jenny Breads who worked hard on the outsides of the field, putting forth her full effort.

Senior Stephanie Cooney feels the team's loss can be attributed to lack of self-assurance. "When your team's losing, your confidence goes down. Your game goes down with your confidence," she said.

With their record at 2-2, Blair plans to do much better against their next opponents, Einstein, seeing this loss as an advantage. "The whole key to [playing] was we didn't give up and that's going to help us when we walk out onto the field against Einstein," said Gibb.
