After a long two week period of hard practices and postponed games, the Blair Blazers came out strong in their second game of the season to blow away Wheaton, 4-0. Despite a slow start and several unfinished plays, Blair dominated throughout the entire game, showing their skill in communication, execution, and team spirit.

According to Head Coach Bob Gibb, the whole team contributed to the victory. Senior Elana Eisen-Markowitz and junior Lorpu Kpadeh led the team with two goals each, while senior Kyra Alvez-Moats outplayed her opponents with fancy footwork and solid confidence.

The girls also played with an immense amount of aggression, and at timesmaybe they were even a little too rough. In the 80th minute, the Blazers were called for six fouls, one in which freshman Gillian Gower received a yellow card from the referee. Blazers were knocked to the ground, only to bounce back up again in search for possession of the ball.

The first half of the game was filled with many attempted shots from the Blazers. However, they could not put it into the net. " We're playing great, we're moving the ball beautifully, we're just not scoring," Gibb said only ten minutes into the game.

With only a few seconds left on the clock, it looked liked senior Ashley Hutcheson was about to score the first point of the game, but the whistle was blown half way through the play to end the first half.

After half time, the girls came out blazing, knocking down their first goal two minutes into the half. That was only the beginning. The Blazers kept the pressure up, scoring their last goal with only three minutes left in the game.

Joining the Blazers for their first taste of the varsity action were
sophomores Nicole Gray and Becca Feiden, and freshmen Carrie Cox and Gillian Gower. Despite nerves and being some of the youngest players on the team, the four JV players put all their effort into the game, contributing to the defeat of Wheaton.

With Wheaton out of the way, Blazers are preparing for the big game against Walter Johnson this Friday. According to Gibb, Walter Johnson plays somewhat similar to the Blazers but has a stronger defense. Gibb does not see Walter Johnson's defense as a threat, because he knows his girls can win. "I expect us to beat WJ," Gibb said after the game.
