The girls' lacrosse team got out to an early lead tonight in frigid conditions against an inexperienced Kennedy High School squad and never looked back, downing the Cavaliers 18-9.

Blair made it clear from the start that the Cavaliers were going to have a rough night, when less than two minutes into the game, Senior co-captain Karin Brown took her defender to the cage and placed the ball past the Cavalier goalie for the first of her five goals. Within three minutes of Brown's goal, the Blazers dumped in four more. Kennedy converted on its first shot of the night, and followed with an unassisted goal two minutes later.

With about seven minutes remaining in the first half, the Cavalier goalie broke her stick and play was stopped for a while. When the stick was finally repaired and play resumed, Blair cruised, outscoring Kennedy seven to one before halftime.

Going into the second half with a comfortable 13-3 lead, Blair head coach Mike Horne was able to give his younger players some experience. Kennedy took advantage of this situation and promptly scored the first goal of the half. The Blazers responded with a five-goal run.

Despite being down 18-4, the Cavaliers' spirits were not crushed. Sloppy play on Blair's part handed Kennedy the last five goals of the game, but the Blazers came out of the game with great confidence in their scoring ability, and most importantly, their second win of the season.
