A guide to the upcoming elections
Good news, freshmen: Even if you didn't cast a vote on Tuesday's primary election you'll still have your say on the upcoming freshmen elections. On Sept. 28 and 29, freshmen will be voting for Class of 2010 representatives.
Note: The positions for secretary and treasurer are uncontested, so the two candidates for the positions will be elected by default. Senatorial candidates are also running unopposed.
Name: Jessie Harrelson
Position: President
Past Experience (in the SGA): Helping out at different SGA events
Reason for Running: "I think that I'm good at getting along with people, so I'd be able to get in touch with a lot of people," Harrelson says.
"If Elected…" Goals: boosting school spirit, having more fundraisers
Name: Vicky Lai
Position: President
Past Experience (in the SGA): None
Reason for Running: "Blair's going to be our second home over the next four years, and I want a part in making it the best second home it can be," Lai says.

Name: Scott Yu
Position: President
Past Experience (in the SGA): Second Vice President in seventh grade, one of the three eighth grade representatives in eighth grade
Reason for Running: "I have an inclination towards these things," Yu says. "I have the experience, and this is my personal hobby."
"If Elected…" Goals: developing a personal relationship with the class of 2010, listening to students concerns and taking action based on those concerns
Name: Redab Alfinaidy
Position: Vice President
Past Experience (in the SGA): School Secretary in fifth grade
Reason for Running: "I really do care about the school and making it better," Alfinaidy says.
"If Elected…" Goals: making freshmen feel more welcome in the school, having more spirit days and increasing student involvement
Name: Andrew Hyder
Position: Vice President
Past Experience (in the SGA): Class representative in the sixth and seventh grades
Reason for Running: "I feel I can best represent the views and opinions of my entire class," Hyder says.
"If Elected…" Goals: shortening the lunch lines, pushing for the policies that the class of 2010 wants
Name: Jeremy Potterfield
Position: Vice President
Past Experience (in the SGA): None
Reason for Running: "I wanted to try something new and represent the student body," Potterfield says.
"If Elected…" Goals: making sure that all the students get their IDs and raising money for prom and graduation with fundraisers
Name: Urja Mittal
Position: Secretary
Past Experience (in the SGA): Class representative in elementary and middle school
Reason for Running: "I want to increase freshmen's voice in Blair," Mittal says.
"If Elected…" Goals: giving freshmen more representation, increasing organization and giving students an outlet to express concerns and suggestions
Name: Jennifer Wang
Position: Treasurer
Past Experience (in the SGA): Class council every year in elementary school
Reason for Running: "In middle school, I meant to run, but I missed the opportunity," Wang says. "[This year], I wanted to get involved in the school."
"If Elected…" Goals: getting more students involved in school activities, getting more information out about school clubs
Name: Krzysztof Franaszek
Position: Senator
Past Experience (in the SGA): SGA officer in eighth grade
Reason for Running: "I just wanted to get involved with the student body and get to know people," Franaszek says.
"If Elected…" Goals: shortening lunch lines, finding and addressing critical issues for freshmen
Name: Jacob Hurwitz
Position: Senator
Past Experience (in the SGA): SGA representative in seventh grade, SGA elected officer in eighth grade
Reason for Running: "In high school, I know that the SGA has the option to make more policy, and I want to be involved in the school community," Hurwitz says.
"If Elected…" Goals: shortening the lunch lines, changing the ID policy
Name: Amy Liu
Position: Senator
Past Experience (in the SGA): None
Reason for Running: "I thought it'd be interesting to represent my grade," Liu says.

Name: Jonathan Lockwood
Position: President
Past Experience (in the SGA): SGA council in fifth grade
Reason for Running: "I thought, carpe diem," Lockwood says. "I know I could do a really great job. If I don't, who will?"
"If Elected…" Goals: getting everyone in on the SGA, getting more people involved in the school, increasing student awareness of school activities and small things (i.e. InfoFlow announcements, pizza sales)
Name: Orlit Groeschler
Position: Senator
Past Experience (in the SGA): Class representative in sixth grade
Reason for Running: "I wanted to," Groeschler says. "I'm responsible and organized."
"If Elected…" Goals: shortening lunch lines, talking to the Class President to convey ideas, having more field trips for all grade, planning a culminating overnight field trip after senior year
