Musician Lawrence Juber visited Blair today to give guitar workshops during 5A and sixth period.

Juber, who is most famous for his work with Paul McCartney in the band Wings, spoke and played to two large groups of Blair guitar students about guitar-playing styles, guitar construction, music theory and life in the music business, among other topics. "The acoustic guitar is the true American instrument," Juber said. "[It is] one thing that has been consistent and continuous through American history."

Blair senior Sophie Kanter was responsible for arranging the event, according to chorus and guitar teacher Paul Newport. "[Juber] gets a kick out of playing for kids," said Newport. "I can't think of words to express my gratitude."

As a lifetime studio musician, Juber's other credits include playing for the TV series Home Improvement, Happy Days and the current sitcom Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, in addition to many solo albums and guest appearances on the albums of other artists. He will be playing the IMAX Jazz Café at the Smithsonian from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. on March 5 and at the Black Box Theater at Montgomery College at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m on March 6.
