Third period incident results in police filing, trip to ER

A fight broke out between two male seniors in front of the Media Center during InfoFlow this morning. The fight allegedly started when one student attempted to trip the other. The fight resulted in a police filing and a hospital visit.

An assault report was filed this morning, according to the Montgomery County Police on duty at the time. The report was classified as a standard assault and not as the more serious aggravated assault.

The injured student was reported by eyewitnesses to have a broken nose, a gash above the eye and other facial injuries. Building Service worker Marianne Christopher commented on the aftermath of the fight. "The whole area from the Media Center to the Nurse's Office was splattered with spots of blood," she said.

One senior, who witnessed the event and was asked to file a report with Security, testified that the injured student "didn't look like he was fighting back." The student commented that, "The first punch looked like it broke his nose and afterwards he was left looking dazed, with blood all over his face."

Security Officer Ed Reddick refused to comment on the incident. "We're trying to determine everything that happened so we can't say exactly what occurred," he said.
