Field Hockey blanks Wheaton, 4-0

The varsity field hockey team grilled Wheaton High School October 6 at Blazer Stadium. Blair's tight defense and stick skills throughout the game swept the Knights off their feet and shut them out 4-0.

The Blazers exhibited great stops and passing on the soggy home field, and they beat Wheaton to almost every loose ball. Wheaton managed to penetrate the Blair circle a few times in the game, but the game was played mostly on the Wheaton side.

Blair's intrepidity allowed them to dominate, according to senior Ashley Moyer. "What really kept us on top is that we were confident against Wheaton," she said.

Wheaton is not considered a strong team, according to junior Sophie Strike, but that was no reason for the blazers to play down to them. "Especially when the game started we went in lightly," she said. "But we knew we couldn't fool around; we played better in the second half."

Junior Abby Celotto played aggressive offense against the Knights, scoring twice for the Blazers, assisted by Moyer. The other two goals of the game were scored by senior Juliana Stevenson and junior Amy Nguyen, assisted by junior Carly Vieira and Strike, respectively.

Their victory pulls the Blazers to an improved but unsatisfying record of 2-4.
