Cash prizes will be awarded
The W.E.B. DuBois Honor Society is sponsoring a writing and speech contest open to all Blair students. All applicants must compose an essay discussing the importance of W.E.B. DuBois' accomplishments and submit it to Jeanette Simmons in room 167 by Feb. 4.
Essays should be written as informative speeches and will be judged by W.E.B. DuBois advocates and officers based on organization, accuracy and clarity. The authors of the top ten essays will give a three to five minute speech based on their essays. The ten best compositions will be announced on Feb. 16, and the three best orators will be announced on Feb. 24.
The first place speaker will receive $200, the second place speaker will receive $100 and the third place speaker will receive $50.
