The SGA will be holding a community service day on Saturday December 14.
Community service day will be held from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. According to Vice President Emma Simson, community service day will involve sending students out to various volunteer organizations in the Silver Spring area. The purpose of the day is "to get Blair more involved in community service and for seniors to get enough community service hours to graduate."
Some of the organizations involved will be the Cedar Creek Association, the National Center for children and families, Inwood House, and ARC of Montgomery County. After students return from their assigned locations, there will be some fun in store. "When students get back we're going to have snacks," said Simson.
SGA will be recruiting students during lunch and there will be a sign up sheet in the SGA office. "Students will need permission because it is a school sponsored activity that is sending them out in the community," said Simson. SGA also needs parents to volunteer as chaperones.
