Halsey Sinclair is champion in Division 4A

NOV. 13, HEREFORD HIGH SCHOOL—

Sophomore Halsey Sinclair placed 1st at the Cross Country State Championships today with a time of 19:52. Her sister, sophomore Ashlyn Sinclair, was the only other representative for Blair, and she also finished strongly with an 18th place among the tough competition.

Even though neither of the Blair boys' or girls' teams qualified for the State Championships, the top 15 finishers from each of the regional meets are ensured a spot at the State Championships. Other than the Sinclair sisters, no other Blazers finished below the cutoff of 15th place, but many believe the sisters represented Blair well. "Halsey ran a great race,” Coach Carl Lewin stated after the meet. "All the work that she put in showed. It all paid off.”

Halsey Sinclair has performed in a dominating fashion this season, winning the State, Regional, and County Championships as well as breaking several course records during the regular season.
