Blazer style for fall 2005
Picture fall fashion
Blazers are following many fashion trends this fall, ranging from metallic colors to destroyed jeans to oversized jewelry. Here is a head-to-toe report of what's "in" this fall.
The head
Sophomore Alonda Robinson sports a hairstyle called a "pouche" or "speed bump" where the front section of the hair is pulled back and pinned into the shape of a hump.

Senior Fridayla Pal's hair is styled in what is known as a "fohawk," where hair is styled in the shape of a Mohawk but not actually cut into the traditional Mohawk. The fohawk and the pouche are just two trends of the "punk rock phase" affecting many Blazers, according to senior Noel Montero.

Everything in between
Meach Golden, assistant manager of Up Against The Wall, a clothing store at Wheaton Mall, says that Juicy Couture charm bracelets are one of the store's top selling items. The bracelets are only one facet of the exaggerated accessory trend among Blazers; Blazers wear not only large bracelets but also large earrings, shoulder bags, purses and belt buckles.

Metallic colors were high on senior Katya Bender's list of trends for this fall. Blazers can be seen wearing silver, gold, bronze or copper belts, purses and shoes.

Another trend popular among both male and female Blazers are track jackets and blazers. Express Sales Representative Philipe Muirhead believes that people want lighter wardrobes this fall. "Track jackets are a real popular seller because nobody wants to wear a heavy coat anymore. It's all about layers," says Muirhead.

In addition to light track jackets and blazers, girls at Blair are also wearing "shrugs," or small cardigans that end at the chest instead of the waist.

According to senior Nipon Saisaard, there are four must haves this fall. "The essential pieces of fall are track jackets, trench coats, washed torn jeans and graphic t-shirts," he says. Graphic tees can be seen everyday at Blair, in many different colors and styles.

T-shirts with activists such as Che Guevera and Huey P. Newton and singers such as Bob Marley are also common.

When asked what was trendy among Blazers this fall, only one item could come to freshman Deena Guynes' mind –"ripped jeans." Ripped or destroyed jeans are seen on both male and female Blazers a like and were mentioned as top sellers by sales representatives at Hollister, American Eagle and Aeropostale at Wheaton Mall.

The toe
Of course, no fashion is complete without trendy shoes. The shoes most popular among Blazers this fall seem to be checkered Vans or other flat sneakers similar to them.
