Twenty-six Blair music students were accepted into the All County and/or All-State instrumental ensembles this fall after completing a highly competitive audition process.
Dustin Doyle, Blair's new Band Director, said "almost half the kids who auditioned made the honors group", which he considers excellent due to the total thousands of students who compete countywide and statewide for positions.
The instructor said that to practice for the competitions, students are given "audition materials and requirements" at the beginning of the school year. Doyle hears them play two prepared pieces and some scales individually about a month and a half in advance, and then listens to them one more time before auditions.
