Blair students advance in Reflections Program

Three Blair students advanced to the "Awards of Excellence" level as part of the Reflections Program, an arts achievement and recognition program sponsored by the national PTA. The students' entries will be judged by the Maryland PTA, and the winning entries, announced March 3, will continue to the national level.

Senior Natalie Ramirez was recognized for her visual arts submission. Students could submit work relating to this year's theme of "I Wonder Why…" in four categories — visual arts, literature, photography and musical composition. The other two Blair students to continue were juniors Merlyn Deng and Jeffrey Tseng, both of whom submitted entries in the literature category. These students will be honored at an awards ceremony in April.

This is the first year the Blair PTSA has sponsored the Reflections Program. There were a total of 264 entries submitted to the Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA) — five from Blair — with 49 advancing to the state level. One entry per category per age division will continue to the national level.
