Several Blazers have been accepted into the Senior All-State Band and Orchestras, which is sponsored by the Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA).

Senior William Hwang and juniors Lisa Kim and Jeanne Yang were accepted into the All-State Orchestra as violins. Senior Daniel Tsui and junior Ben Gaddy also were accepted as cellists.

Seniors Deborah Moody and Matt Carson were accepted into the All-State Band as clarinets. Junior Kurt Schewe was accepted as a trumpet, and junior Kristin Hoven was accepted as a French horn.

The All-State Band and Orchestras are musical programs created to further the advancement of musical programs in schools. The Senior All-State program is made for students between the grades 10 and 12, starting with several days of rehearsal and culminating with a final concert.

The audition day was November 17, at Long Reach High School, in Howard County. After several days' delay resulting from an incorrect selection process by the MMEA, results were posted on December 5.

The concert day for the Senior All-State Band and Orchestras, along with the other Senior All-State programs and activities, will be February 24 in Baltimore, MD.
