Geng is among 121 other winners

Blair senior Sherri Geng is one of two Presidential Scholars from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Each year, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars announces the winner during May. The Presidential Scholar award is one of the highest honors given to the high school seniors in the country.

The honor is awarded for academic achievement or the performing arts. Up to 121 students nationwide are named Presidential Scholars for academic achievement, while another 20 are named for the arts. Geng was honored for her academic accomplishments and the other MCPS winner Sandra Wolf-Meei Cameron of Poolesville HS was one of the 20 arts winners.

In addition to the two scholars from MCPS, five other students were nominated to be semifinalists. Of these five, Eric Ma, Kendra Leigh and Rebecca Sugar were named semifinalists from Blair.
