Blair student involved in crash

A Blair student driving to school collided with another vehicle in front of the firehouse on University Blvd on the morning of November 12 between 7:15 and 7:20.

A car, driven by senior Cindy Keyser, was taking a left from the intersection of University and Williamsburg traveling westbound when she was struck by another vehicle traveling eastbound on University Blvd. The crash occurred at a moderately fast speed, according to an eyewitness.

The driver traveling straight flipped over the student's car and rolled into the parking lot of the firehouse. The drivers of both cars walked away without major injury. There were not any other passengers in either car.

Sophomore Will Hernandez explained the events as they unfolded. "The light [on the University Blvd direction] was turning red. The car that was in the middle of the intersection saw that the light was turning red and turned," he said.

After the collision, the driver, an adult male, proceeded to climb out of the car even though it was on its side, according to Hernandez. The student's car reportedly suffered heavy damage.

Senior Erika Pelz-Butler, an eyewitness at the scene, called the incident one of the scariest things she had ever seen in her life. "I had to put my car in park and think about what just happened."

Blair security and local police and fire officials responded to the scene, and took control of the situation.
