Second Annual film festival held at Columbia Union College

The Takoma Park Maryland Library and Columbia Union College sponsored the second annual Film Festival. The festival is an opportunity for professionals, adults, and students to showcase their creative work.

Among the directors featured, was senior Lilah Shreeve with her short film Double Vision. After the eight and half minute film, Shreeve answered questions from the audience and explained that she directed the movie while attending a summer film camp. "We were really pleased with the movie, considering we only had two days to film and edit," Shreeve said.

Shreeve learned about directing and editing during the camp and then worked to produce the film, which was "written pretty much by [my] teachers." Shreeve admits that there were a "lot of bloopers, and stress and tension" in making the movie. Double Visions, which was a science fiction comedy, was about a mysterious employee who just started working at a movie theatre.

Double Visions was one of four short films featured in the festival on Sunday, December 7. Three short animated films created by 10 year-old filmmaker Julian Boilen, with Ezra Wexler; The Fire Inside, The Making of "Reflectress IV", a documentary by Beezhan Meezan which followed the creative filmmakers at Brainbox as they tried to create a 10 minute superhero movie in just 48 hours; and Silverhead by Frank McGuire, with Karen Coteler, a parody of a James Bond movie, were all presented in Sunday's portion of the festival.

The festival began on Thursday, December 4, with the airing of The
Autobiography of Malcolm X
and continued on Saturday with The Pentagon Papers.
