Choral and jazz performances a part of Silver Spring holiday events

Blair's Chamber Choir and Jazz Combo will perform on Dec. 16 as one of the various holiday events occurring in Downtown Silver Spring this December.

The Chamber Choir will sing from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the Silver plaza, followed by the jazz combo from 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Blair's performances are part of a series of different holiday events being held every Saturday in December, beginning today with the Eubie Blake Jazz Ensemble, Frosty the Holiday Elf and the Holiday Village Carolers. The Carolers will return next Saturday followed by pet photos with Santa to benefit the Washington Humane Society. A donation of $15 dollars is suggested.

Through Dec. 22, the Downtown Silver Spring security office will be collecting unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots. Those who donate can also register for a chance to win a $100 Downtown Silver Spring gift card.

Whole Foods in Downtown Silver Spring has joined in the holiday spirit by offering classes designed for holiday cooking and baking, including chocolate truffle making and sweet holiday appetizers. On Dec. 7, they will offer free holiday party food samplings from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. accompanied by live music from Catherine Chapman.

For more information on any of these events, visit the Downtown Silver Spring web site.
