Eric Shansby featured in latest column

Recent Blair graduate Eric Shansby is the new cartoonist for Gene Weingarten's column Below the Beltway, starting with the February 8th edition of The Washington Post Magazine.

Shansby is the topic of Weingarten's column, which discusses among other things, how he met Shansby, currently a freshman at Yale.

Weingarten says of Shansby, "The incredible fact about Eric Shansby is that he was born in 1985. He is 18 years old. I discovered him when I went to speak to a journalism class at Montgomery Blair High School."

Richard Thompson, the previous cartoonist for Weingarten, left to start his own column, also in The Washington Post Magazine, titled "Cul de Sac."

Shansby, a 2003 graduate, won many awards for his cartoons during his years on staff of Silver Chips, including first place prizes at the 2002 Gold Circle Awards and the 2002 MSPA Competition.
