Blazers lose to Churchill 1-2

It was the end of the season for the Blair girls' soccer team, as they fell 1-2 in the playoffs against the Churchill Bulldogs. The stands at Churchill were filled with Blair fans hoping to see the girls advance in the playoffs, however, too many mistakes and a hesitant offense lost the game for the Blazers.

Blair came out onto the field with great energy, showing their determination to beat the ranked Churchill. As time elapsed, the Blazers began to slow down. Their passes became forced and their movement of the ball seemed to be in slow motion.

The Blazers continuously ran the same play, which allowed Churchill to easily steal and block the ball. At least four times the ball was kicked down to the right side line where junior Lorpu Kpadeh recieved the ball and tried to shoot. Eventually, senior captain Elana Eisen-Markowitz picked up on her team's mistake and told them to vary their offense.

Senior Aynesleah Sinclair and junior Beccah Bernard held off Churchill's offense beautifully. Together the two starters executed several steals and made crucial blocks that allowed Blair to stay in the game.

The Blazers did a good job holding Churchill back. Churchill was only able to score once late in the first half and once more in the second. Churchill's lead did not stop Blair from playing the game. With less than one minute left and a crowd of confusion in front of Churchill's goal, Blair managed to get the ball right over the goal barrier. It was unsure as to whom scored, but it is believed to be the work of junior Elizabeth Inkellis.
