At 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, Montgomery Blair entered an evacuation after reports of a bomb threat. Fifteen minutes later, the administration sent an email to all families confirming 911 services had been contacted. In the email, classes were ceased, and all families were warned to not contact their children to prevent unnecessary danger.
According to staff development teacher Leslie Blaha, the administration received notification of these threats through an anonymous phone call. At 11:58 a.m., students re-entered the building to resume first period, and lunch continued at 12:45 p.m.
In 2023, Blair received three superficial bomb threats from a 12-year-old. Junior Kamayah Yirikenyi found that there was a drastic difference between those instances and this time around. “No one’s taking this really seriously,” she explained. “People are sliding down the hills and mingling with their friends.”Â
Sophomore Anna Su shared a similar sentiment. “I do think there are a lot of false bomb threats, but it’s important that we keep taking them seriously because on the occasion that one is real, we don’t want to treat it as a joke.”
