To celebrate Black History Month, Blair is hosting different activities each day from Feb. 6 to Feb. 10

During the week from Feb. 6th - 10th, Blair recognized the Black Lives Matter Week of Action through opportunities each day to center joy, elevate Black experiences, and celebrate staff and students. The Black Lives Matter at School coalition organizes the annual Black Lives Matter Week of Action which is dedicated to advancing the fight for racial justice and equality in education by promoting, building, and creating change. According to the coalition’s website, their goal is to “[organize] for racial justice in education.”

A different activity took place each school day during lunch. On Monday, there was a partnership between the Black Student Union (BSU) and Pride+ in the media center to discuss the role of black LGBTQ+ activists in freedom struggles. On Tuesday, there was a student to activist discussion in the media center. On Wednesday, the Fine Arts department made original posters and pins across from the counseling office. On Thursday, there was a Double Dutch contest outside of the media center. Friday was a day for Blazers to wear all-black clothing or clothing from a historically black college/university (HBCU). There was also an HBCU panel in the media center which included talks from counselor Kirk Simms, social studies teacher Michael Burnell and social studies teacher Kenneth Smith.
