Blair breezes by Einstein

The Blair boys' tennis team ended their season with a 7-0 win against Einstein to finish the season with a record of 9-3. The Division III Einstein team was outplayed by a Blair team that dropped a total of only two games out of the seven matches.

First to finish was second singles player senior Jordan Fein, who won 6-0 6-0. Despite strong wind gusts, Fein encountered few difficulties in his match as he used strong serves and groundstrokes to dictate play and end points quickly.

First singles player Hailiu Yang, who also came off with a 6-0 6-0 win, displayed impressive control, frequently ending points with subtle drop volleys that left his opponent flat-footed. Fellow singles players senior Eric Su and Michael Hsu also had easy wins of 6-0 6-0 against outmatched opponents.

Within the hour, both the first doubles team of freshman Dukyoung Park and Charles Kong and the second doubles team of seniors Andy Ding and Kelvin Le had won 6-0 6-0.

The third doubles match featuring sophomore Henry Zhang and junior Tony Chen was the sole match to extend significantly past sixty minutes, eventually ending in a 6-0 6-2 win for Blair.

Coach David Ngbea thought that the team win was an appropriate end to a satisfactory, but not exemplary, season. Ngbea thought the team's overall record of 9-3 was a solid achievement, but was hoping to do even better.

Now, Ngbea believes, the players must take what they've learned from the season's experiences and a bright outlook with them to the county tournament. "I hope we shall go in there with a good attitude and if we do that I think we should do rather well," he said said.
