JV Soccer beats Blake 10-0

SEPT. 29, BLAZER STADIUM—

The JV boys' soccer team improved its record to 5-0 today with a 10-0 win against Blake. This season Blair has outscored its opponents 28-0. With the win, Blair continued their dominance over their opponents and stretched to a 16 game winning streak for JV boy's soccer from last year.

Blake was at a serious disadvantage from the start, playing against a much bigger and faster Blair team. Blair was able to take control of the tempo within the first 10 minutes, and by halftime was leading 4-0 by the spectacular goals from Matias Salina and captain Jack Graul.

When the second half began, the Blake team was demoralized and playing half heartedly, proceeded to give up five goals between minutes 58 and 69. Blair, which played a much more physical game, took advantage of a porous Blake defense to create multiple offensive breakaways.

Many of these offensive opportunities were created by the shutdown defense of Ethan Kuhnhenn, Alec McLean, and Joseph Davis. The defensive players were able to lead their own attacks, because most of the Blake's passes were intercepted before they were able get past half field. Blair's passing and shooting was much more precise this game than in previous games against Whitman and Wootton.

The last three games have shown a remarkably different team than the first two games, in which Blair barely won by scores of 2-0 and 1-0. In the last three games, Blair has averaged over eight goals per game. This improvement in offense is due to the fact that passing has improved, leading to less turnovers and more scoring chances. Their shooting has also become more accurate, which has allowed the team to capitalize on more offensive possessions.

Blair scored goals in the 58, 61, 64, 66 and 69 minute to take a previously respectable match and turn it into a blow out. These goals seemed excessive in game who's outcome had been decided much earlier.

With the win Blair showed a continued dominance over their opponents and stretched a 16 game win streak for JV boy's soccer from last year.

Blair's next game will be away at Springbrook on October 4 at 5:30 p.m.
