JV boys' soccer beats Whitman 1-0

SEPT 14, BLAZER STADIUM—

The JV boys' soccer team remained undefeated in their second game of the season with a 1-0 win over Whitman. The Blazers struggled throughout the game, but a goal by Lamboni Yendonka gave them the win. Blair's only goal was scored in the 55 minute, but the team failed to capitalize on several other scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Blair played spectacular defense, limiting the scoring chances for Whitman by forcing them to take difficult shots. Blair's transition play was also strong. The team was able to recover quickly from a shot against their goal, but once they advanced towards the Whitman goalie box their execution fell apart. [We] just couldn't finish the plays that we started," said Nick Mozer. "Our mid-field played well, but the shots just wouldn't hit the net."

Blair had several chances to score, including multiple breakaways, but poor offensive passing led to multiple turnovers. Some of their shots went wide, while the majority sailed over the goal. "No matter how many drills we do, it seems that we can't keep our shots in control," said Phillip Allen. "We can't keep them down."

The play was tightly contested throughout the game. Blair did have control of the ball close to 60 percent of the entire game, but neither team was able to dominate the ball. Both Blair and Whitman played excellent defense, which made the game challenging for their respective offenses.

As the game progressed, Blair showed signs of improvement, especially on the defensive end. Defensive players Ethan Kuhnhenn and Alec McLean played well on both sides of the field. Kuhnhenn and McLean led many scoring drives, but the team was unable to finish.

Yendonka's goal was the high point of the game for Blair, showing what the team can do in future games shooting as well as passing under pressure.

Their next game is Sept. 20 at 3:30 P.M. as Blair faces Richard Montgomery at home.
