Seniors featured for outstanding baseball record

Two members of Blair's varsity baseball team were mentioned in The Washington Post and The Gazette.

Seniors Jonas Wilson and Kent Anderson were highlighted in The Gazette article, "Blair, Damascus separate from the pack in 4A East Division," while Anderson's batting performance was also praised in The Washington Post article entitled "Blair's Plate Is Full."

"Blair, Damascus separate from the pack in 4A East Division," focused on how the Blair and Damascus baseball teams already set themselves apart from the rest of the 4A division through superior play, though it has only been a week since the season started.

Wilson, the team's starting pitcher, was noted in the article, which attributed some of the team's success to his performance. According to The Gazette, Wilson has gone 2-0 on the mound, has 10 strikeouts in 10 innings and only allowed five hits.

Anderson, who is the starting first baseman, was mentioned in both The Gazette and The Washington Post for his outstanding batting performance this season.

Anderson has gone nine for 11 at the plate, according to The Washington Post. His record includes a double and two triples, which have helped the baseball team to start their season undefeated. The Gazette article called Anderson's batting average of .818 "outlandish."

According to The Washington Post, Blair coach John Macdonald commented on Anderson's batting performance, saying "He's on fire right now. Not a cheap hit in the bunch."

In The Gazette, Macdonald also commented on Blair's performance as a whole. "We're hitting the ball well," MacDonald said. "We've gotten 38 hits in our first three games. We're scoring a lot of runs but we need to be more consistent defensively."
